In a landmark initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), NHPC Limited’s Chamera-II Power Station has installed 350 RO water purifiers across schools and healthcare institutions in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh. The project, aimed at ensuring access to clean and safe drinking water, has been implemented at a cost of ₹45.85 lakh.
The inauguration ceremony was held today at PM Shri Government Model Girls School, Chamba, and was graced by the Deputy Commissioner of Chamba, Mr. Mukesh Repaswal (IAS), who formally launched the initiative. The event saw the presence of NHPC Chamera-II’s General Manager Mr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, senior officials, school staff, and students.
In his keynote address, DC Repaswal emphasized, “Clean and safe drinking water is not just a foundation for good health—it is an investment in our future generations.” He lauded NHPC’s commitment to public welfare and noted that the initiative aligns with the district administration’s mission to provide clean drinking water in every school and health facility.
He further highlighted the administration’s ongoing efforts in education, health, sanitation, and public welfare, including infrastructure upgrades, sanitation drives, and water security programs that are accelerating sustainable development in both rural and urban areas. Calling NHPC a “partner institution,” he praised its role in enhancing community well-being and setting a benchmark for corporate–community collaboration.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, General Manager of NHPC Chamera-II, reiterated the company’s dedication to holistic development. “NHPC is not limited to power generation. We are equally committed to the sustainable development of society,” he said. “Our bond with Chamba is deep and heartfelt. Beyond powering the state and the nation, the Chamera projects have consistently contributed to education, healthcare, environmental conservation, and access to clean water.”
He also outlined other CSR initiatives undertaken by Chamera-II Power Station in the region, including the provision of furniture to schools, medical equipment to health centers, tree plantation drives, and skill development programs for local youth. He assured that NHPC would continue to actively support public welfare projects in collaboration with the local administration.
The event began with a floral welcome of the Deputy Commissioner by Mr. Singh, followed by a vibrant rangoli presentation by the school’s students, adding a festive touch to the occasion.
Among the dignitaries present were Deputy General Manager (E&C) Mrs. Shubhra Shah, Deputy General Manager (HR) Mr. Janesh Kumar, Senior Manager (Finance) Mr. Amit Bansal, Principal Srikala Vij, faculty members including Mrs. Deepti Puri (History) and Mr. Kamlesh Shekhri (Commerce), and a large gathering of students.
