The Himachal Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has introduced major changes to the Town and Country Planning (TCP) rules, making home construction more expensive for residents.
Under the new regulations, extra construction beyond the permitted limit will attract heavy charges ranging from ₹3,000 to ₹7,000 per square meter. The charges will be higher in urban areas such as municipal corporations and councils, while smaller towns will face relatively lower rates.
Additionally, construction near highways may incur extra fees, further increasing costs for builders and homeowners.
The decision is expected to have a direct impact on the common people’s budget, as building homes in Himachal will now require stricter compliance and higher expenditure.
