Mandi – The Himachal Pradesh High Court’s order to hand over the investigation into Vimal Negi’s suspicious death to the CBI has triggered strong political reactions. BJP’s chief spokesperson Rakesh Jamwal accused state minister Jagat Singh Negi of trying to undermine the judicial process by casting doubts on the CBI.
Jamwal said Minister Negi’s statement questioning the CBI reflects panic and an attempt to shield those who may be exposed in a fair investigation. He asked why the minister was in a hurry to defend the state SIT and who he was trying to protect.
Drawing a parallel with the Gudiya case, Jamwal reminded that evidence tampering had occurred during the Congress rule, and it was the CBI that uncovered the truth then. “Now the same mindset is again targeting the CBI. Is something being hidden in the Vimal Negi case as well?” he asked.
Jamwal also criticized the minister’s repeated controversial statements, saying a state minister should not behave like a party spokesperson. “Is the demand for justice for an honest officer like Vimal Negi troubling him?” he added.
He said the people of Himachal want to know why the minister opposes the CBI probe if the court believes it is necessary. “If the investigation proceeds, it may expose uncomfortable truths for the Congress government,” Jamwal claimed.
Calling the incident serious and politically sensitive, Jamwal said Minister Negi’s remarks not only disrespect the judiciary but also hurt the victim’s family. The BJP demanded that the minister apologize and stop interfering in the judicial process. “If he has nothing to hide, he should support the CBI investigation,” Jamwal said.
