A one-day awareness and institutional training session for NCC cadets was successfully organized at Government Arya Degree College, Nurpur under the able guidance and chairmanship of the esteemed Principal, Dr. Anil Kumar Thakur. The program aimed to enhance cadets’ military skills, environmental awareness, and disaster management preparedness.
During the training, Havildar Yashpal and Havildar Rakesh Kumar from 9 HP Battalion NCC, Dalhousie, provided practical instruction on weapon handling, FCBC, map reading, position-finding methods, and drill scout tests. Cadets participated enthusiastically and gained valuable insights into various military subjects.
Later, the college’s ANO Captain Surjit Kumar delivered an inspiring lecture on environmental protection, urging cadets to uphold their responsibilities towards nature, cleanliness, and sustainability.
In the concluding session, Dr. Satya Prakash, Assistant Professor of Geography, spoke on disaster preparedness in view of the Southwest Monsoon 2026. He explained the process of monsoon formation and highlighted risks such as extra runoff generation, flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides, along with preventive measures.
A total of 64 NCC cadets benefited from the program, which concluded with a call for continued active participation in future training initiatives.
