Under the “Chalo Chamba” campaign, the district administration will host the MTB Chamba Cross Country Cycling Race on March 21–22, 2026, with participation from renowned cyclists across the country. Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal chaired a review meeting today at the DC office auditorium to finalize preparations for the event.
The race, organised in collaboration with the Chamba Cycling Association, will cover a challenging 65-kilometer route passing through Chamba–Bhadram–Gaila–Diolihati–Sungal–Koha–Chameenu–Sarahan–Penela–Wat–Kumarka–Baridehra–Brijeshwari Temple, culminating at the Chamba Circuit House.
To ensure smooth conduct, the DC directed officials to coordinate with the police department for traffic management and law and order arrangements along the route. He also assured deployment of Home Guards and disaster volunteers for support. The District Tourism Development Officer shared a detailed framework of departmental coordination required for the event.
The Chamba Cycling Association confirmed that competitions will be held across multiple categories, including Sub-Junior, Under-19, Open, Masters, Women Junior, and Women Senior. The event is expected to draw significant attention as part of the district’s tourism and sports promotion efforts.
The meeting also discussed arrangements related to the Public Works Department, health services, rescue operations, and disaster management. Senior officials including Additional SP Dinesh Kumar Sharma, SDM Priyanshu Khati, Acting Assistant Commissioner Rahul Kumar, CMO Dr. J.S. Bhardwaj, DTO Rajiv Mishra, DYSSO Rupesh Kumar, and representatives from the fire services and disaster management were present, along with Chamba Cycling Association President Chandrakant.
