A special interaction program with BPL families identified under Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department’s Phase‑1 to Phase‑8 survey was organized at a private palace in Gangath. Indora MLA Malendra Rajan attended as the chief guest and held direct dialogue with families from Gangath‑1, Gangath‑2, Rappad, Ghetta, Bhalakh, and Atahra panchayats.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Rajan lauded Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s commitment to the welfare of poor and needy families. He said the state government, under the CM’s leadership, is determined to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the last person standing in society. He emphasized that only genuinely eligible families should be included in the BPL list, eliminating ineligible beneficiaries and prioritizing rightful claimants.
Highlighting key initiatives, he mentioned the Sukh Ashray Yojana, launched for children who have lost their parents. Nearly 6,000 such children across Himachal Pradesh are being provided with facilities normally ensured by parents. He also referred to the Indira Gandhi Sukh Samman Yojana, which is being rolled out in phases to benefit eligible women. Rajan urged people to avail themselves of these schemes for economic and social empowerment.
On the issue of drug abuse, the MLA said the government has adopted a zero‑tolerance policy and appreciated the police department’s role in cracking down on illegal drug trade and confiscating properties acquired through it. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for approving posts for the Nurpur Police Line.
During the program, officials from various departments shared details of their schemes with beneficiaries and representatives. The Tehsil Welfare Officer explained social pension schemes and other welfare programs, while officers guided families on eligibility and application processes. Rajan directed officials to prioritize the grievances of poor citizens visiting government offices and ensure timely resolution.
He stressed that such interaction programs are not only about disseminating information but also about understanding the real needs of BPL families and linking them with appropriate government schemes.
The event was attended by SP Nurpur Ilma Afroz, SDM Dr. Surinder Thakur, BDO Sudarshan Singh, Naib Tehsildar Pawan Kumar, Ayurvedic Medical Officer Dr. Ankit Sharma, ACF Nishant Prashar, Executive Engineer Sandeep Saniyal (HPSEB), Veterinary Officer Dr. Tanul Dogra, Food Inspector Ajay Kaundal, SMS Sanjeev Kumar (Horticulture), SMS Bodh Raj (Agriculture), SDO Rajendra Sanodia (Jal Shakti), SDO Rajiv Bindal (PWD), along with panchayat representatives and other dignitaries.
