Bringing pride to Himachal Pradesh, Dr Ishita Verma from Kathlag village in Mandi district has secured an impressive 47th rank in the UPSC Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination 2025. The result was declared on December 22, 2025, following a written examination and personality test conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
The UPSC CMS Examination 2025 is one of the country’s most competitive examinations for medical graduates aspiring to serve in key government health services. The written examination (Part I) was held on July 20, 2025, while the personality test/interview (Part II) took place on November 4, 2025. Based on the combined performance, candidates have been recommended for appointment to prestigious medical posts under the Central Health Service, Railways, New Delhi Municipal Council and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
According to the official notification issued by the Press Information Bureau, Government of India, successful candidates have been selected under two major categories. These include Medical Officers Grade in the General Duty Medical Officers sub-cadre of the Central Health Service, as well as posts of Assistant Divisional Medical Officer in the Railways, General Duty Medical Officer in New Delhi Municipal Council, and General Duty Medical Officer Grade-II in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
At just 24 years of age, Dr Ishita Verma’s achievement stands out not only for her high rank but also for her strong academic and professional background. She completed her schooling from DAV Centenary Public School, Mandi, and went on to pursue MBBS from Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur.
Known for her academic consistency and commitment to public service, she is currently serving as a Medical Officer at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Barot, where she has been actively involved in delivering healthcare services in a rural and hilly region.
Adding another milestone to her growing list of accomplishments, Dr Ishita has also been selected for post-graduation at AIIMS-Jammu, one of the country’s premier medical institutions. Balancing preparation for competitive examinations while serving in a government health facility highlights her dedication to both professional excellence and patient care.
Dr Ishita hails from a family deeply rooted in public service. Her father, Dr Ghanshyam, is a Senior Veterinary Officer, currently posted at the Sub-Divisional Veterinary Hospital, Sundernagar. Her mother Anita is a homemaker who has been a constant source of support throughout her academic journey. Her brother Kshitij Verma (21) is pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from BITS-Pilani and is currently in his fourth year.
Residents of Kathlag village and the wider Mandi district have expressed immense pride in Dr Ishita’s success, describing it as an inspiration for students, particularly young women aspiring to careers in medicine and civil services. Her achievement underscores the growing presence of talent from Himachal Pradesh in national-level competitive examinations.
