Lucky Chauhan, a volunteer of the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, has been selected for the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue – National Youth Festival (VBYLD–NYF) 2026, bringing pride to the college, Mandi district and Himachal Pradesh at the national level.

His selection came through a rigorous three-stage competitive process conducted by the Government of India. In the first stage, an online quiz competition was organised under the My Bharat initiative from September 1 to October 31, 2025.

The second stage involved an essay-writing competition held between November 5 and November 20, 2025. The third and final stage was a state-level PowerPoint presentation competition organised by Central University of Himachal Pradesh on December 30-31, 2025, where Lucky Chauhan impressed the selection panel with a well-structured and theme-based presentation.

Following this, he appeared for an interview conducted by a representative of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. His clarity of thought, vision and leadership qualities led to his final selection for the prestigious national platform.

Lucky Chauhan will represent Himachal Pradesh at the event to be held from January 9 to 12, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, where he will present his views on the theme “Building a Sustainable and Green Viksit Bharat”. A major highlight of the programme will be the interaction of selected youth delegates with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 12, 2026.

The national event will bring together young leaders from across the country to share their ideas on 10 key themes related to nation-building, sustainable development, innovation and leadership, making it an inspiring and thought-provoking forum for India’s youth.

The selection is being seen as a reflection of the academic environment and active co-curricular engagement promoted by the institution, and is expected to motivate other students to participate in national-level initiatives and leadership programmes.
