On the occasion of the 16th National Voters’ Day, the Himachal Pradesh Election Department organised a state-level function at the historic Gaiety Theatre, Shimla, where State Youth Election Icon Jaspreet Pal was conferred with a State Award for his exceptional contribution towards motivating young voters to actively participate in the democratic process.
The programme was attended by Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla as the chief guest, who extended greetings to voters across the state and emphasised the importance of informed and enthusiastic participation in elections. During the ceremony, Jaspreet Pal was specially honoured for his innovative and sustained efforts to encourage youth voter engagement across Himachal Pradesh.
Cycling to the World’s Highest Polling Station
During the recent Lok Sabha elections, Jaspreet Pal undertook an extraordinary awareness campaign by cycling across some of the most challenging terrains of the state. In a remarkable feat, he cycled from Shimla to Tashigang in Lahaul-Spiti, the world’s highest polling station, spreading the message of voter participation and democratic responsibility.
Through these long-distance cycling expeditions, he connected directly with local communities, particularly young voters, urging them to register, vote, and recognise the power of their ballot. Alongside voter awareness, Pal also used the platform to motivate youth to stay away from substance abuse and adopt a healthy lifestyle by engaging in sports and physical activities.
Recognition for Consistent Public Engagement
The Governor lauded Jaspreet Pal’s commitment, describing his efforts as an inspiring example of how innovative outreach can strengthen democracy at the grassroots level. Officials of the Election Department noted that his campaigns had a significant impact in generating enthusiasm among first-time voters and young citizens, especially in remote and tribal regions.

A resident of Upper Samkhetar in Mandi district, Jaspreet Pal is a passionate cyclist and professional photographer, widely known for combining fitness, environmental awareness, and social causes in his public initiatives.
