Mandi
As Mandi town moves closer to completing nearly 500 years of its historic journey, a special Heritage Walk is being introduced for the first time during the International Shivratri Festival to connect residents and visitors with the city’s deep-rooted cultural, social, and religious heritage.
The initiative aims to offer people a closer look at Mandi’s centuries-old identity, renowned for its ancient temples, distinctive architecture, and vibrant spiritual traditions.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Gursimar Singh informed that the Heritage Walk will be organised on February 15, 17, 18, and 20, with two daily sessions starting at 10:30 am and 2:30 pm.
The walk will begin from Seri Manch and cover major heritage landmarks including the Royal Palace, Madho Rai Temple, Baba Bhootnath Temple, Panchvaktra Temple, Hanumanghat, Trilokinath Temple, Mahamrityunjaya Temple, Tarna Devi, and several other historic sites before concluding at Indira Market near Siddhakali Temple.
To ensure convenience, small vehicles will also be arranged, with some stretches covered on foot and others by transport.
Participation will be limited and free registration has been made mandatory. Interested individuals can register by contacting 9418123001 or 9805373758.
Renowned historian and author Satya Mahesh, who has written extensively on Mandi’s temples and history, will guide participants throughout the walk.
The Heritage Walk is expected to become a key attraction of the festival, celebrating Mandi’s timeless cultural legacy.
