Dr. Veer Vikram Singh represents Himachal at 14th Indian Student Parliament, earns widespread praise

Dr Veer Vikram Singh, Medical Officer-in-Charge at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Chandesh in Sarkaghat in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, who is the Founder of the Himachal Pradesh Student Parliament (HPSP), represented Himachal Pradesh at the 14th Indian Student Parliament (Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad) held at MIT World Peace University in Pune from February 8 to 10 (2025).
Addressing over 10,000 young leaders, Dr Singh emphasised the pivotal role of student leadership in shaping India’s future. He urged the youth to believe in their dreams and actively participate in strengthening democracy. His inspiring words, “We are here to shine!” resonated deeply with the audience.
Encouraging practical application of learned principles, he said, “At BCS, you have learned the principles; now it’s time to apply them in practice.”
In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Singh was honoured with a Maratha shawl by Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma. Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania also lauded him for promoting youth leadership and his dedication to public healthcare services.
The event also featured a two-day National Legislative Conference, with active participation from Himachal Pradesh legislators, including Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania and other esteemed members.
This conference further underscored Himachal Pradesh’s commitment to democratic leadership and participation.
Dr Singh expressed heartfelt gratitude to his mentors and supporters, notably Dr Rahul V Karad, founder of BCS, and Dr Rajiv Saizal, chief patron of HPSP and former Health Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He also acknowledged the support of the Himachal Pradesh government, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and the late Virbhadra Singh, for their unwavering support in fostering youth leadership in the state.
Established in 2011, the Indian Student Parliament (BCS) is a non-political platform that encourages youth participation in public life and nation-building. Over the years, BCS has been graced by eminent personalities from various fields, making it India’s largest student leadership platform.
