Boost to tourism likely as new religious circuit unveiled in Mandi district’s Kamaru Valley

MANDI: In a major boost for religious tourism in Himachal Pradesh, the Kamaru Valley in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh has unveiled a new spiritual tourism circuit.


The revered Mata Jalpa Saroa temple is now connected to the famed Bada Dev Kamrunag temple via a newly constructed road, offering devotees and tourists an enriched pilgrimage experience.


This long-awaited development not only eases access for local residents but also enhances the religious tourism potential of the region.

Pilgrims can now conveniently visit Mata Jalpa Saroa, Bada Dev Kamrunag and the Shikari Devi temple (via Devidhar) in a single journey, transforming Kamaru Valley into a prominent spiritual tourism destination.


“Connecting Mata Jalpa Temple with Bada Dev Kamrunag by road is a historic moment for our community. This will not only make pilgrimage easier for devotees but also help our region grow spiritually and economically,” said Leela Prakash, president of the Jalpa Mata Pradhan Committee.

Spiritual journey amidst Himalayan grandeur

The newly established circuit offers an exceptional blend of spirituality and natural beauty. The Kamrunag temple, revered as the abode of the Rain God, is nestled beside a serene lake, attracting thousands of devotees every year.

Shikari Devi temple, perched at a majestic height of 10,500 feet, is one of Himachal’s most celebrated religious sites, offering panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges.


Mata Jalpa Saroa, steeped in ancient traditions, holds deep-rooted significance among the faithful, making this circuit a perfect blend of devotion, history and nature.


“For centuries, devotees have undertaken challenging journeys to seek blessings at Kamrunag. With this new connectivity, their devotion will be rewarded with greater ease and our traditions will reach even more people,” shared Devi Singh, main priest of Bada Dev Kamrunag Temple.

Wave of happiness among locals

The road linking Mata Jalpa and Kamrunag temples has sparked widespread celebrations across the region.
Panchayat representatives and temple committees have expressed gratitude to the government, viewing this project as a significant step towards accelerating social and economic development.


“This development has brought immense happiness to all of us. Improved roads mean better opportunities, more visitors, and a brighter future for our younger generation,” expressed Satish Thakur, a local resident.


Local communities are hopeful that the improved connectivity will lead to a substantial increase in pilgrim footfall, particularly during religious fairs and festivals, thereby ushering in new economic opportunities for the surrounding villages.


With the inauguration of this new religious circuit, Kamaru Valley is poised to emerge as a key spiritual destination in Himachal Pradesh, blending divine experiences with the breathtaking beauty of the Himalayas.
