Major Police Action Against Illegal Mining in Nurpur District

Nine Vehicles and Machinery Seized in Fatehpur

Nurpur Police has intensified its special campaign against illegal mining, leading to a major crackdown on July 7, 2026. In two separate operations carried out by Fatehpur Police, a total of nine vehicles and heavy machinery were seized and strict legal action initiated.

In the first operation at Rey Pattan area, police caught one Pokelane Excavator, one JCB, and five multi-axle trucks engaged in illegal mining. An FIR No. 72/2026 has been registered at Police Station Fatehpur under Sections 329(3), 303(2), 190 of the BNS, Section 21(1) of the MMDR Act, and Section 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act against Sushil Kumar, resident of Hoshiarpur (Punjab), and others. All seven vehicles/machinery have been impounded, and investigation is underway.

In the second operation at Jakhara area, police patrol intercepted one JCB and one tipper involved in illegal riverbed mining. Both vehicles were challaned under the Mining Act, impounded, and the challan has been forwarded to the Hon’ble JMFC Court, Jawali.

Nurpur Police remains fully committed to taking strict legal action against illegal activities and mining mafia in the district, ensuring protection of natural resources and enforcement of law.
