Dharamshala: Major General (Retd.) DVS Rana, former Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, has been unanimously appointed as the President of the Ex-Servicemen Wing of the Rajput Mahasabha, Himachal Pradesh.

The announcement was made during the first core group meeting of the newly elected Governing Body, held online on May 2 under the chairmanship of Engineer K.S. Jamwal. The meeting was conducted by Senior Vice President, Professor Ashok Sarial.

Founded in 2018, the Rajput Mahasabha Himachal Pradesh is a non-political, state-level registered joint platform comprising more than 20 district and regional Rajput associations. It works for the welfare and interests of the Rajput community across the state.

Major General Rana will now be a part of the core group that includes professionals from diverse fields such as defence, education, medicine, engineering, and community service—sectors considered vital for the holistic development of the society.

During the meeting, Chairman K.S. Jamwal briefed the core group on the outcome of a recent discussion held with the Hon’ble Chief Minister, focusing on key demands including the revival of the Rajput Welfare Board and the establishment of a General Category Commission.

A proposal by General Secretary Vijay Chandel—to include presidents and general secretaries of all affiliated district and regional Rajput associations as executive members of the Governing Body—was approved unanimously.

Professor Sarial emphasized the need to expand the Mahasabha’s presence to the village and panchayat levels to unite all Rajputs for community welfare. He further highlighted the plan to establish units in schools, colleges, and universities to create awareness among Rajput students about their rights, particularly regarding issues like merit-based discrimination and scholarships.

It was also decided that the Governing Body would hold regular monthly meetings across various districts to ensure continued engagement and grassroots-level involvement.

The meeting was attended by several prominent members including Dr. A.S. Guleria, Dr. K.S. Minhas, Engineer D.S. Dattwalia, Dr. Ramesh Minhas, Mr. Anil Thakur, and Mr. Dhyan Singh Dhattwalia.
