Lahaul girl murdered in Dharamshala celebrated birthday a few days ago, wanted to attend Congress rally

DHARAMSHALA: A chilling murder mystery has gripped Norbulingka in Dharamshala, where a 20-year-old girl from Lahaul-Spiti was found murdered in her rented room this Monday (December 11, 2023).
The victim, who had recently celebrated her birthday, had plans to attend the Congress rally in Dharamshala on December 11, commemorating one year of the party’s rule in the state.
Ankur Singh, the distraught father of the girl, informed the police that only a few days ago on December 6, his daughter had celebrated her birthday. “I had transferred money to my daughter’s account for the birthday,” he said.
The victim had also expressed her intention to her mother to participate in the government function at the Police Ground in Dharamshala.
The police have arrested two youths in connection with the case. Both suspects were presented before the court on Wednesday, which subsequently remanded them in three days of police custody.
While the prime suspect is a 21-year-old boy, the other arrested youth is aged 20. During the investigation, the police discovered jackets and shoes belonging to the suspects in the girl’s room.
According to a source, the prime suspect was known by the nickname ‘Rowdy’. The victim, the only girl child in her family, has a younger brother, aged 10. The distraught parents have vowed not to send their other child outside their village now.
Further inquiries revealed that the girl’s body was found on the carpet and the door of her room was open, raising suspicion about the nature of the murder. The girl’s neck was found tied with a shawl.
