Dharamshala: A grand “Kayakalp Award ceremony” was organised by the Department of Health and Family Welfare in Kangra district at the Regional Hospital, Dharamshala, celebrating exemplary performance in health services.
The event was presided over by Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj, Member of Parliament from Kangra Lok Sabha constituency.
The Dharamshala Zonal Hospital and Palampur Hospital were conferred with the Kayakalp Award by the Government of India for meeting high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and overall quality in public health facilities. This ceremony was held to commemorate their achievement.

In his address, MP Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj emphasised that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s healthcare system is being consistently strengthened. He expressed pride that Jagat Prakash Nadda, who belongs to Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh, is serving as the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and is steering national healthcare services toward new heights.
Dr Bhardwaj highlighted transformative government schemes like Ayushman Bharat and e-Sanjeevani, stating that such initiatives have enabled even the poorest sections of society to access modern healthcare facilities, bringing about a significant positive change.
He also praised the Kangra district’s health department for its efficient and dedicated service delivery, applauding the efforts of both officials and frontline staff.
Referring to a recent campaign launched by the Prime Minister, “Swasth Naari, Sashakt Pariwar” (healthy women, empowered families), Dr Bhardwaj noted, “This shows how deeply concerned the PM is about the health of women. A nation cannot be healthy unless its women are healthy.”
He said that doctors and paramedical staff are revered as gods for their selfless dedication to the service of humanity. Several dignitaries attended the event, including Dr Vivek Kumar Karol, Chief Medical Officer, Kangra; Dr Rajesh Sood, District Health Officer; Dr Anuradha Sharma, Medical Superintendent; and Dr Sunil Bhatt and Dr Uday, Senior Medical Officers.
Prominent BJP leaders were also present, among them Rakesh Sharma, BJP state spokesperson; Vishav Chakshu, state media co-incharge; Sachin Sharma, district BJP president; Tejinder Kaur, Deputy Mayor, Dharamshala Municipal Corporation; Dr Vishal Nehria, Pradeep Kumar, Dinesh Kapoor and Rishi Walia.
