Mandi: Bollywood actress and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut is set to visit her constituency on April 5 and April 7, marking her first major outreach effort after months of criticism over her absence. The visit is being seen as a crucial political move as discontent among locals over her lack of presence in the region has been mounting.

BJP workers are gearing up for a grand welcome, but political observers suggest that this visit is an attempt to reconnect with the electorate ahead of the next elections. Her itinerary includes stops in Sadar Assembly Constituency and Jogindernagar, where party leaders have urged supporters to gather in large numbers.

The visit is particularly significant in Jogindernagar, where MLA Prakash Rana has mobilized efforts for her first appearance since the formation of new BJP mandals.

Ms. Ranaut’s engagement with her constituents has been a contentious issue. Since her victory, social media has been flooded with criticism accusing her of prioritizing Bollywood over her parliamentary duties. Viral posts have questioned whether she will only return to Mandi when elections are near.

The backlash intensified after her absence from BJP’s ‘Rosh Rally’ in Shimla on March 27, where senior party leaders protested against the Congress government. Her sudden removal from the list of attendees raised concerns over her commitment to party activities.

Former Congress MP Pratibha Singh seized the opportunity to reiterate her criticism, stating that Ms. Ranaut has failed to be an accessible representative. “I had warned that Kangana would stay in Mumbai and leave the people of Mandi at the mercy of others. Today, the reality is in front of everyone,” she said in an interview.

Despite the growing criticism, BJP remains optimistic that this visit will help rebuild her image. Party leaders plan to highlight development projects and initiatives under her leadership to counter negative narratives.
