In a significant judgment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Fast Track POCSO Court in Jawali has sentenced Anil Kumar alias Tinku (35), a resident of Jawali, to six years of rigorous imprisonment for attempting to molest an 8-year-old girl. The verdict was delivered by Additional District and Sessions Judge Nitin Mittal.
The court also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 on the convict. In case of non-payment, he will serve an additional six months in prison.
According to the case details, the victim’s mother lodged a complaint at Jawali Police Station on August 17, 2024, stating that the incident occurred a day earlier when she had gone to the cowshed, leaving her daughter asleep at home. During this time, the accused allegedly abducted the child and took her to his residence, where he attempted to molest her.
The prosecution, led by Navina Rahi, presented 19 witnesses during the trial. After thorough examination of evidence and testimonies, the court found the accused guilty and pronounced the sentence.
The judgment underscores the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring justice in cases involving crimes against children and reinforces the importance of swift legal action under the POCSO Act.
