January 21: A joint committee constituted to assess the damage caused by a hydropower project carried out an on-site inspection on Tuesday in Saloon–Tiyari village of Sahan Panchayat, Holi Tehsil, under the tribal Bharmaur subdivision. The inspection was conducted in view of the heavy losses suffered by the village during the last monsoon season due to altered water flow around the hydropower project site.
The inspection team included senior officials from JSW and GMR Hydropower Projects, Divisional Forest Officer Bharmaur Navnath Mane, Block Development Officer Bharmaur, Holi Tehsildar Ajay Kumar (Member Secretary), Sahan Panchayat Pradhan Beena Devi, technical consultants, Executive Engineer of Jal Shakti Department, and Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Bharmaur. All officials were present on site to examine the extent of damage and assess the situation.

The matter was earlier raised by Bharmaur–Pangi MLA Dr Janak Raj during a LADA (Local Area Development Authority) meeting held on November 18, 2025, at the Mini Secretariat Bharmaur. The meeting was chaired by Tribal Development Minister and LADA Chairman Jagat Singh Negi. Taking serious note of the issue, the minister had directed that a thorough investigation be conducted into the damage caused by water flow around the hydropower project in Saloon–Tiyari villages and that a joint committee be formed to ensure immediate action.
The inspection is expected to pave the way for a detailed report and necessary remedial measures to address the losses suffered by the affected villagers.
