Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur launched a sharp attack on the Sukhu government during a BJP rally in Dharamshala today, claiming that “three years of Congress rule have produced not a single new scheme” while “dozens of BJP-era welfare schemes have been shut down.”

He said people across the state are frustrated and angry, adding that Congress MLAs themselves cannot name a single scheme launched by the current government. Thakur accused the government of taking away benefits like HIMCARE, Shagun/Kanyadan, Grahni Suvidha, and closing over 2,000 institutions, forcing citizens to demand restoration of old facilities instead of expecting anything new.

Questioning the government’s decisions on land and university projects in Dharamshala and Palampur, he alleged that the Chief Minister is “working against Himachal’s interests” and “benefiting close friends.”

Thakur said every section of society is protesting and that the state is filled with “anger and despair.” He criticised the police action against disabled persons and students during recent demonstrations.

Calling the Sukhu administration “anti-people,” he accused it of burdening citizens with new taxes—from electricity and water to cremation wood—and pushing the state into heavy debt. He also attacked the government for planning a grand celebration of its three years in office at a disaster-affected site.

Taking a political swipe, he said, “In the next Assembly elections, Himachal will fit Congress into an Alto car.”

Thakur further alleged that the Chief Minister has been making “anti-Sanatan statements” from day one to please his political bosses, citing his remarks questioning children greeting with “Radhe-Radhe.”
