DHARAMSHALA: Pakistan launched coordinated drone strikes late Friday night across 26 locations in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
Punjab’s Ferozepur witnessed around 25 explosions caused by drone activity. However, Indian defence forces successfully intercepted and neutralised most of the drones mid-air.
Debris from destroyed drones and missiles was found in various regions, including areas of Himachal Pradesh bordering Punjab.
Suspicious metal debris found in Himachal’s Una district
At approximately 1.30 am on the intervening night of May 9 and 10, suspicious metallic fragments, believed to be parts of missiles or rockets, were discovered in uninhabited areas of Pirthipur in Gagret sub-division and Behd Bhated village in Amb sub-division of Una district.
Police secured the area following reports from local residents. Initial inspections suggest the fragments were inactive and posed no threat to life or property.
A team of experts has begun a detailed investigation. Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors.
Increased vigil at border; debris also found in Kangra
At 5 am, Indian forces shot down a Pakistani drone near Majra village, close to the Pathankot airbase along the Punjab-Himachal border.
Police, paramilitary forces and military officials quickly arrived on site and recovered the drone remains. Similar fragments were also reported from three locations in Jawali sub-division of Kangra district.
Although no damage has been reported, expert teams are examining the debris. In light of these developments, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla chaired a high-level security review meeting at Raj Bhavan.
He instructed agencies to stay on high alert, especially in sensitive border regions like Indora and Nurpur. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu later briefed the Governor on the security measures being enforced in coordination with the central government.
