In first visit to Himachal after poll victories, BJP chief Nadda says Cong makes false promises, only Modi delivers on ‘guarantees’

MANDI: BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda received a warm welcome and felicitation upon his arrival in his hometown of Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh. This marks Nadda’s first visit to Himachal following significant victories in the Assembly elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
Reflecting on the changing landscape of politics, he emphasised that votes are earned through hard work on the ground, not by deceit. Nadda commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for delivering on promises and also on unspoken commitments.
Expressing confidence in PM Modi’s guarantees, Nadda said, “If there is a commitment to fulfill promises, it is PM Modi’s commitment.” He criticised the Congress’ past election strategy, likening it to “applying lime on mountains, washing away during rain, and leaving the public with nothing”.
Nadda underscored the importance of women empowerment, highlighting initiatives such as Har Ghar Jal, Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, and the 33% women reservation bill, framing these as indicators of India’s transformation.
Addressing the robust economy under BJP governance, Nadda outlined substantial relief funds allocated to Himachal, including Rs 1,782 crore for disaster relief, Rs 2,500 crore for PM Awas Yojana and Rs 2,700 crore for PM Gram Sadak Yojana. He said a total of Rs 3,378 crore had been received from the central government in one year after the Congress took charge. Nadda cautioned against politicising disasters and emphasised the importance of prudent spending.
Taking a swipe at the Congress, Nadda criticised their “singular guarantee — the guarantee of having no guarantee”. He enumerated the unmet needs of the people of Himachal, including demands for English medium schools, women’s financial assistance, mobile health vans, procurement of cow dung and milk, job creation and reliable electricity supply.
In an appeal to the public, Nadda urged a comeback for the BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, aiming to secure all four seats in Himachal Pradesh. The event was attended by prominent figures, including Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, BJP state president Dr Rajeev Bindal.
