A significant meeting was convened today at the Police Office auditorium in Nurpur under the chairmanship of Superintendent of Police, Shri Kulbhushan Verma. The meeting was held in reference to file number Wel-5-SOP (Retires) 2024-13096-129 dated 06.10.2024. Additional Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, was also present on the occasion.
Office bearers of the Police Pensioners’ Association, Kangra district — Shri Manoj Kumar Walia (President), Shri Krishna Ji Raina (Vice President), Shri Kailash Walia (General Secretary), Shri Sahab Singh (Press Spokesperson) — along with Shri Bahadur Singh (Executive President, Police District Nurpur Pensioners’ Association) and several retired police officers and employees attended the meeting.
During the session, available records, prevailing rules, and departmental SOPs were reviewed, and extensive discussions were held on various important issues.
The Association emphasized the need for timely financial assistance to families of deceased retired police personnel and for ensuring due honor to the departed officers.
Further demands raised included:
- Establishment of a canteen facility in Police District Nurpur
- Holding interactive meetings between senior police officers and pensioners during district visits
- Developing an effective mechanism for addressing pensioners’ grievances
Other key issues discussed were:
- Enhanced financial support for medical treatment, especially eye surgeries
- Early clearance of pending medical bills of retired personnel
- Immediate payment of pending DA arrears and other dues from January 1, 2016 to January 31, 2022
In conclusion, the Association urged the concerned department to take prompt action on these demands to ensure the welfare of retired police personnel and their families.
