Incident Involves HRTC Bus from Tara Devi-Nerwa Depot

On Monday morning at approximately 6:20 AM, an HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) bus overturned and fell into a field/parking area near the Sarah Bus Stand in Chopal, Shimla district.

The accident occurred as the bus was en route to Chopal, departing from Sarahn. At the time of the incident, the bus was carrying the driver Pawan Kumar, conductor Dharm Prakash, and five to six passengers. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

Accident Details and Immediate Response

According to reports, the bus, which operates from the Tara Devi-Nerwa bus depot, was scheduled to leave Sarah for Chopal at 6:30 AM. However, shortly after starting its journey, the bus overturned on the road near Sarah Bus Stand and came to a halt there. Two passengers sustained minor injuries in the accident.

Investigation and Official Statement

Regional Manager of HRTC, Anil Kumar Sharma, confirmed that two passengers received minor injuries and assured that the causes of the accident are under investigation. The authorities are currently examining the circumstances leading to the bus’s overturning to prevent future incidents.

This accident highlights the ongoing need for stringent safety measures and regular maintenance checks on public transport vehicles to ensure the safety of passengers.
