Kangra:
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Himachal Pradesh on December 20, likely marking his first trip to the state since the 2022 Assembly elections. He will be the chief guest at the Border Security Force (BSF) Foundation Day celebrations at the SSB training centre in Sapri, Kangra district.

Ahead of his arrival, the Kangra district administration has put Jwalamukhi and surrounding areas on high alert. Security arrangements have been tightened and four major routes will be temporarily closed to ensure smooth VIP movement. Traffic diversions have also been implemented, and authorities have appealed to commuters to cooperate.

Jwalamukhi SHO Sanjay Kumar said, “The Home Minister will attend the BSF Foundation Day programme at the SSB training centre. Temporary traffic restrictions and diversions have been put in place on key routes to manage security and ensure smooth movement. We request the public to cooperate with the police during this period.”

The police have also conducted rehearsals to streamline traffic and security arrangements. While it is yet unclear whether Amit Shah will attend any political programmes in the district, authorities are ensuring all measures are in place to avoid any lapses.

Traffic will remain restricted on the roads from Dehra to Jwalamukhi, Nadaun to Jwalamukhi, Kangra to Dehra; and Jwalamukhi to Khola, Sapri, Khundia and Ranital.

The restrictions will be in effect from 11.15 am until the Home Minister reaches the venue and again from 2 pm until his return. Emergency and medical vehicles will have access via alternate routes. Authorities said all preparations have been completed to ensure a secure and smooth visit for Amit Shah while minimising inconvenience to the public.
