Says state not get required support from the Centre
SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh said that the Hindutva card that the BJP had tried to play in other central Indian states would not work in the hill state. “The situation in Himachal is different. BJP’s Hindutva card will not succeed here,” he said.
Vikramaditya said that he was a bigger Hindu than the BJP leaders called themselves, but he did not need any certificate from anybody. “Our ancestors strengthened the Dev Samaj and we too will continue doing so. But it is not right to look at it from the political point of view. This is our faith, our belief. This will always continue and we will continue to do this work apart from politics,” he said.
The statement came as the Himachal Pradesh Congress government is going to celebrate its first anniversary on December 11 (2023) at Dharamshala in Kangra district. For this, along with the government, the Congress has also started preparations.
Regarding this, a meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee was held at Rajiv Bhawan, the headquarters of the state Congress, in Shimla. Congress state president Pratibha Singh presided over the meeting in which her son and minister Vikramaditya Singh was also present, among others.
Vikramaditya Singh said that the government would celebrate one year of its tenure in Dharamshala in style and party’s national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would be the chief guest.
About the party’s defeat in the recent Assembly elections, Vikramaditya said that even though Congress had been defeated in three states, its vote percentage had not decreased. Accepting defeat, he said that it was his responsibility to boost the morale of the workers.
Vikramaditya said that the one-year tenure was challenging, but the government had worked in every field. He said that the government was fulfilling the poll guarantees in a phased manner. He said the government had restored the old pension and work was being done to open a model school in every Assembly constituency, which would prove to be a milestone. He said that the e- taxi scheme had been started to provide employment to the youth.
Not getting support from the Centre
Vikramaditya targeted the central government and said the state was making every possible effort at its level, but it was not getting the required support from the Centre. “The Centre is creating hurdles in even giving what is the rightful due of the state government. Despite the disaster, the state government did not get any major relief,” said Vikramaditya, urging the Centre to set politics aside and cooperate with the state government in developmental works.
