SHIMLA:
Himachal Pradesh is in the grip of a sharper winter chill as night-time temperatures continue to slide, sending parts of the state below the freezing mark.
According to the latest readings related to Himachal weather, four locations recorded sub-zero minimum temperatures, with Tabo in Lahaul-Spiti emerging as the coldest spot at a biting -5°C.
In stark contrast, Una and Paonta Sahib remained the warmest during the day, touching 27°C, offering some respite from the intensifying cold.
Foggy conditions prevail in plains
Several regions woke up to foggy conditions, with dense fog blanketing Sundernagar and mild haze reported in Bilaspur. Despite colder nights, the skies across Himachal, including the capital Shimla, opened up with bright sunshine today, adding warmth to the otherwise chilly conditions. Weather experts note that this pattern is expected to continue through 23 November, with no forecast of rain or snowfall during this period.
The Meteorological Centre has indicated stable conditions for the next few days, predicting no significant change in either minimum or maximum temperatures. Specialists attribute the prevailing dry weather to a lack of active western disturbances over the region during mid-November.
While higher altitudes are experiencing a continuous dip in temperatures, the state has yet to enter a phase of severe winter.
Shimla recorded minimum of 10.2°C
Temperature variations continue to paint a diverse picture across Himachal’s terrain. Shimla recorded a minimum of 10.2°C, while Sundernagar dipped to 5°C and Bhuntar reached 3.9°C.
