Dharamshala: Himachal Pradesh is expected to witness clear weather for the next four days, according to the Meteorological Department. While this may bring some respite in terms of outdoor activity, it will also trigger a spike in temperatures, especially in the plains where heatwave conditions are likely to worsen.
As of now, the temperature in seven towns across the state have already crossed the 35°C mark. Una recorded the highest at a scorching 39.2°C.

Rain likely from June 12 onwards

The MeT Department has forecast clear skies till June 11 across Himachal Pradesh. As a result, high-altitude areas —currently cooler than usual due to recent rains — are expected to see a rise in temperature by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius in the coming days.

A western disturbance is likely to become active on June 12, bringing light showers to higher-altitude regions. By June 13, the disturbance is expected to strengthen, with moderate rainfall predicted in mid and high hills of the state.

Though the weather has remained clear for the past three days, the first week of June brought above-normal rainfall. Himachal received 19 mm of rain between June 1 and 7, which is 45% more than the average of 13.1 mm for this period.

The upcoming dry spell may offer temporary relief for tourists and local travel but could also escalate the heat stress in lower regions, said a weather analyst. The authorities have advised people in plains to take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
