A fresh controversy has surfaced in Himachal Pradesh after several officials from the state’s revenue administration came under scrutiny for allegedly misusing medical leave to travel outside the state.

The issue involves staff posted at a revenue office in Sirmaur district, where Naib Tehsildar Inder Kumar and other employees were reportedly absent from duty while on sanctioned medical leave. The matter gained attention after photographs and video clips showing the officials sightseeing in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, began circulating widely on social media.

According to local accounts, the absence of multiple staff members led to serious disruption of public services, leaving citizens unable to access routine revenue-related work, including documentation and verification processes. Several people reportedly returned without assistance after travelling long distances.

Taking cognizance of the viral material and public complaints, Paonta Sahib Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gunjit Singh Cheema issued notices to the officials concerned, seeking an explanation. A separate notice has also been served to the Tehsildar who allegedly approved the leave applications.

Confirming the development, the SDM stated that location details of the absent officials have been sought, but responses have not yet been received. Senior authorities have been informed, and disciplinary action is expected following the review of replies.

The incident has sparked criticism locally, with residents demanding strict accountability to ensure that essential government offices remain functional and public trust in administration is not undermined.
