Reaffirming the government’s commitment to make Himachal Pradesh Chitta-free, Chief Minister declared that the fight against drug trafficking is not a political slogan but a firm pledge to protect the state’s youth.
In line with this resolve, the Himachal Pradesh Police today carried out a massive coordinated operation across 13 districts, targeting 121 locations simultaneously to dismantle the Chitta mafia. The raids followed days of intelligence gathering, technical analysis and field inputs.
Key Recoveries
- Charas: 3.77 kg (including 3.5 kg in Dehra)
- Heroin (Chitta): 12.38 g
- Opium: 88.1 g
- Poppy husk: 1.15 kg (including 783 g in Una)
- Weapons: 1 homemade pistol (Baddi)
- Cash: ₹63,000 (Dehra)
District-Wise Highlights
- Kangra: Raids at 9 locations; major seizure in Dehra with 3.5 kg charas and cash.
- Nurpur: 13 raids; 4.17 g of Chitta recovered.
- Chamba: 13 raids; 6.23 g of Chitta seized.
- Baddi (Solan): 14 raids; pistol, 243 g charas, and 86.63 g opium recovered.
- Kullu: 5 raids; 0.98 g Chitta and 17 g charas seized.
- Una: 12 raids; 783 g poppy husk recovered.
- Bilaspur: 8 raids; opium, poppy husk, charas, Chitta, and weighing machine seized.
- Other districts: Raids in Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Hamirpur, and Lahaul-Spiti yielded additional recoveries.
Police Statement
Officials confirmed that 18 suspects were not present during the raids, and legal proceedings against them are underway. The police emphasized that this is only the beginning of a sustained campaign. Using network-based surveillance, real-time monitoring, digital analysis, and field action, authorities aim to trace every link in the Chitta trafficking chain.
The police also appealed to the public to share information on drug activities, assuring that the identity of informants will remain confidential.
