Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today unveiled a transformative vision for Himachal Pradesh’s industrial landscape, highlighting the success of the state’s flagship “Industry through Invitation” initiative.

Under this proactive outreach strategy, Himachal Pradesh has positioned itself as a premier destination for high-tech, sustainable, and rural-based industries. “Our government is not merely waiting for investment, we are inviting it with a clear roadmap,” said the Chief Minister.

By engaging with global markets in Dubai and Japan, as well as domestic hubs like Mumbai, the state has secured investment commitments exceeding ₹5,000 crore in the past three years. The government has already approved 683 industrial projects worth ₹14,000 crore, expected to generate employment for nearly 32,000 youth.

Diversifying Beyond Traditional Sectors

The Chief Minister emphasized diversification into new-age industries. Infrastructure is being developed to support eco-friendly transport, empower MSMEs and startups, and attract investors in green energy and green hydrogen. Tourism, solar energy, digital infrastructure, and modernization of agriculture—particularly dairy and food processing—are being prioritized to benefit rural farmers and strengthen the industrial sector.

Boosting MSMEs and Startups

Recognizing MSMEs as the backbone of the economy, the state has submitted proposals worth ₹1,642 crore to the Centre, securing ₹109.34 crore in initial funding. Himachal has also established 14 incubation centers at institutions like IIT Mandi, IIM Sirmaur, and AIIMS Bilaspur. So far, 107 startups have launched successfully, with another 407 in the pipeline.

Under the Chief Minister’s Swavalamban Yojana, 1,607 self-employment units worth ₹373.87 crore have been approved, creating immediate livelihoods for over 3,500 people.

Investor-Friendly Policies

To ensure seamless investor experience, 180 services have been integrated into a single-window portal. Construction regulations have been revised to allow 70% land utilization for industrial buildings, and 13 new industrial areas have been notified to meet rising demand.

National Recognition

Himachal Pradesh’s efforts have earned national accolades, including:

  • Best Performer Award in the State Startup Ranking 2023
  • Aspirant State Award for Ease of Doing Business 2024
  • First Prize under the PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme
  • Recognition by DPIIT in 2025 for excellence in Health & Services and Construction Permit Enablers

“These awards are a testament to our commitment to transparent and efficient governance,” said CM Sukhu, adding that Himachal Pradesh is “open for business” and determined to ensure industrial growth translates into prosperity for every citizen.
