In a proactive initiative to combat drug abuse among youth, Himachal Pradesh Police conducted an awareness session at St. Bede’s College, Shimla. The event featured key speakers including Director General of Police (DGP) Shri Ashok Tiwari, DSP Geetanjali Thakur, and Lady Constable Nikita, who addressed students on the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of making responsible life choices.

DGP’s Powerful Message

DGP Ashok Tiwari delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing that drug abuse is not merely a personal habit but a serious threat to one’s health, dreams, self-respect, and family happiness. He urged students to stay healthy, alert, and drug-free, and encouraged them to view the police as approachable allies for guidance and support.

Real-Life Reflections by DSP Geetanjali Thakur

DSP Geetanjali Thakur shared real-life stories to illustrate the ripple effects of choices. “Every decision has a domino effect,” she said. “Saying ‘yes’ to drugs can trigger a chain reaction that’s hard to stop.” She encouraged students to seek thrill, connection, and purpose through safe alternatives like sports, arts, adventure, and volunteering.

Lady Constable Nikita’s Insight

Lady Constable Nikita highlighted the personal and social consequences of drug abuse. She stressed the importance of saying ‘no’ to protect one’s health, self-esteem, and future, urging students to take ownership of their well-being.

The session concluded with a collective call for students to spread awareness within their families, peer groups, and communities, and to make conscious choices that safeguard a healthy, safe, and positive future.

The event was attended by St. Bede’s Principal, faculty members, Dr. Pooja Bansaltu (ADA PHQ), and Dr. Animesh Tiwari, along with enthusiastic student participation.
