Shimla:

Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, son of six-time former Chief Minister late Virbhadra Singh, is set to remarry next month. The 34-year-old Congress leader will wed Amreen Kaur, an Assistant Professor at Panjab University, on September 22, 2025, at House No. 38, Sector 2, Chandigarh.

Speaking exclusively to The Newz Radar, Vikramaditya Singh confirmed the development. An invitation card for the wedding, now circulating widely on social media, has already generated a wave of excitement, not just among supporters but also in wider political and social circles. The card, which carries the blessings of late Raja Virbhadra Singh, underscores the emotional significance of the occasion for the royal family of Bushahr.

Bride-to-be from Punjab academic circles

The bride, Amreen Kaur, is the daughter of Sardar Jotinder Singh Sekhon and Sardarni Opinder Kaur. With an academic background and a professional role as Assistant Professor, her association with Himachal’s most prominent political family is being seen as a union of tradition and modernity.

The news has also sparked curiosity because her name figured earlier in a court case filed by Vikramaditya’s former wife, though no official word has been released by either family on that matter.

Second marriage for Congress leader

This marriage marks a new beginning for Vikramaditya Singh, who was earlier married in 2019 to Sudarshana Chundawat of Amet, Rajasthan. The relationship, however, broke down within a few years.

In October 2022, Sudarshana lodged a domestic violence complaint in an Udaipur court, accusing Vikramaditya and his family of mental and physical harassment. The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) in Udaipur issued non-bailable warrants not only against Vikramaditya but also his mother and MP Pratibha Singh, sister Aparajita Singh, brother-in-law Angad Singh and even Amreen Kaur, alleging her involvement in an extra-marital affair.

The case drew sharp attention at the time, placing the young Congress leader under a cloud of controversy. No detailed updates have emerged from his side since then, but the viral wedding card indicates his decision to move forward and begin a new chapter in personal life.

Heir to a political legacy

Born on October 17, 1989, Vikramaditya Singh carries the legacy of one of Himachal Pradesh’s most towering political figures, Virbhadra Singh. After his father’s death in 2021, he was symbolically anointed as the “Raja” of Bushahr, a title of cultural and emotional value for the people of the region.

Educated at Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, Vikramaditya went on to graduate with a History (Hons.) degree from Hansraj College, Delhi University, in 2011, and later completed his post-graduation in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, in 2016. His academic grounding and political grooming within the family prepared him for a public role from an early age.

He represents the Shimla Rural constituency and serves as Public Works Minister in the state cabinet. His mother Pratibha Singh is the former Member of Parliament from Mandi and the current Himachal Congress president, making the family one of the most influential dynasties in Himachal politics.

Political and social significance

The upcoming wedding is being widely viewed as more than a private family celebration. Given Vikramaditya’s political profile, the guest list is expected to feature top leaders from the Congress as well as influential figures from other walks of life.

Observers say that this marriage could also play a role in reshaping his public image, particularly after the controversies linked to his first marriage. While critics may raise questions, supporters argue that the move reflects his determination to move past personal setbacks and focus on both family and political responsibilities.

The circulation of the wedding invitation has already generated widespread reactions. Messages of congratulations and good wishes have been pouring in across platforms, with many describing the event as a “royal wedding” for Himachal.
