In a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh, Dr Sadhna Thakur, a renowned physician, dedicated social worker and wife of former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, has been elected as a member of the National Managing Committee of the Indian Red Cross Society, one of the country’s most respected humanitarian institutions.
The recognition holds special significance as Dr Sadhna Thakur is among only 12 distinguished individuals from across India elected through a competitive process to this prestigious body. Her inclusion stands as a testament to her tireless commitment to humanity, health care and social service.
Dr Sadhna Thakur has long been associated with the Red Cross movement in Himachal Pradesh. She has previously served as the vice-chairperson of the Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Society and as chairperson of the Hospital Welfare Branch, where she worked extensively to promote welfare programs focused on public health, hygiene and women’s empowerment.
Beyond healthcare, Dr Thakur has played a leading role in environmental and social initiatives, including plantation drives and awareness campaigns across the state. Her extensive experience as a senior medical professional has helped her blend compassion with effective public service, making her a respected figure in both medical and social circles.
