Following the directives of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across Himachal Pradesh will now listen to public grievances twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays. A notification in this regard has been issued by the Secretary of Administrative Reforms.
According to the notification, if Monday or Thursday happens to be a public holiday, DCs will meet the public on the next working day. This directive also applies to Superintendents of Police (SPs) in all police districts.
These instructions were given during the DC-SP conference held in Shimla on November 7 and 8. The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of resolving public issues in a timely manner to avoid delays.
As part of this commitment, the state government has launched the ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ initiative, where ministers will visit rural areas to listen to and resolve citizens’ issues. Additionally, over 2.5 lakh pending revenue cases have been resolved through Revenue Lok Adalats, providing relief to people by reducing their need to visit government offices repeatedly.
The Deputy Commissioners play a crucial role in ensuring good governance. Timely resolution of grievances at the district level will provide relief to the public and enhance administrative efficiency,” the Chief Minister stated.
