DHARAMSHALA:
The Congress high command has appointed Himachal Pradesh MLAs RS Bali and Kuldeep Singh Rathore to important national roles as part of the party’s ongoing structural revamp across several states.
Kuldeep Rathore appointed observer for Uttarakhand
Senior Congress leader and MLA from Theog in Shimla Kuldeep Singh Rathore has been named as the AICC observer for Uttarakhand under the party’s ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan’, an initiative aimed at strengthening the Congress at the grassroots level.
Rathore, a former Himachal Pradesh Congress president and currently an AICC spokesperson, will oversee the reorganisation process in multiple districts of Uttarakhand.
He has been tasked with holding one-on-one interactions with local Congress leaders, assessing ground realities and recommending panels of three to four names for the post of District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents. The final appointments will be made by the central leadership based on these recommendations.
Rathore, considered a seasoned and balanced voice in the party, is seen as a strong contender for the Himachal Pradesh Congress presidency again.
RS Bali entrusted with oversight in four states
RS Bali, the MLA from Nagrota Bagwan in Kangra and Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (with Cabinet rank), has been given a significant organisational role by the AICC.
Bali has been appointed to oversee the DCC president selection process in Jharkhand, Odisha, Punjab and Uttarakhand.
Known for his energetic presence and deep grassroots connection, Bali carries forward the legacy of his father, the late GS Bali, a revered figure in Himachal politics. His inclusion as an observer reflects the Congress party’s strategy to empower a new generation of leaders who combine youth with political maturity.
Party insiders view this move as part of a broader plan to bring fresh dynamism to the Congress organisation. Bali’s field experience, leadership skills and organisational credibility make him a fitting choice for such a crucial responsibility.
The appointments of Rathore and Bali are part of a larger national restructuring push initiated by the Congress high command to rejuvenate the party ahead of upcoming electoral challenges. AICC observers have been deployed in key states to supervise district-level leadership selection under the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan.
