Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and several cabinet ministers will remain unavailable for public meetings in Shimla over the next three to four days.
Chief Minister Sukhu and his cabinet colleagues reached Ahmedabad on Monday (April 7, 2025) evening to attend the two-day Congress National Convention beginning on Tuesday.
Focus on strengthening Congress at national level
The convention, being held in Ahmedabad, aims to deliberate on strategies to strengthen the Congress across the country ahead of crucial elections.
Over 18 leaders from Himachal Pradesh, including CM Sukhu and Pradesh Congress Committee chief Pratibha Singh, are attending the event. Before the start of the convention, a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) is scheduled at the Sardar Patel Memorial in Shahibaug, where key decisions are expected to be taken and implemented on the ground through the national session.
Himachal Congress’ pending organisational issues may be discussed
Sources said that a meeting between Chief Minister Sukhu, Pratibha Singh and top Congress leadership regarding the organisation in Himachal is likely during the visit.
The party’s state unit has been functioning without a complete organisational structure for nearly five months and one cabinet berth also remains vacant. These issues may come up for discussion in the CWC meeting.
CM Sukhu and other leaders are expected to return to Shimla either by the evening of April 10 or the morning of April 11.
