DHARAMSHALA: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu played a pivotal role in ensuring the safe return of 24-year-old Pavana, a resident of Kutharna village under Shahpur Assembly constituency of Kangra district, who was stuck in Dubai.
The issue came to light when Kanol panchayat pradhan Nirmal Singh approached Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania seeking assistance for Pavana’s return from Dubai. Sensing the gravity of the situation, MLA Pathania promptly brought the matter to Chief Minister Sukhu’s notice in Delhi last Wednesday.
Pavana, who had ventured to Dubai for domestic work on December 16 through an agent from Chandigarh, encountered unforeseen troubles. Hailing from a humble background, she had last communicated with her family through a video call after boarding a plane in Delhi on December 16. Subsequently, her whereabouts remained unknown until her family received a distressing voice message from an unidentified number in Oman, revealing that Pavana and several other girls were taken to Oman, and their lives were purportedly in danger.
Revealing her plight, Pavana disclosed that her passport and mobile phone had been confiscated by agents who took her to Oman. Her brother lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that his sister had fallen victim to fraud travel agents.
Chief Minister Sukhu promptly raised the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs, resulting in the safe return of Pavana to India today. MLA Pathania conveyed heartfelt gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhu, emphasising the Chief Minister’s direct communication with the Ministry of External Affairs played a crucial role in bringing Pavana back home safely.
The joyous reunion of Pavana with her family sparked celebrations among relatives and community members, all expressing their sincere gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhu and MLA Kewal Pathania for their prompt and effective intervention in ensuring her safe return to India.
