Dharamshala: The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) announced the results of the Class 10 board examinations on Thursday (May 15, 2025). This year, the overall pass percentage has risen to 79.08%, showing a marked improvement over last year’s 74.61%.
The results, released eight days later than last year, once again highlight the strong performance of female students. Out of the top 117 students in the merit list, 88 are girls.
According to Dr Major Vishal Sharma, Secretary of HPBOSE, the Class 10 board exams were conducted in March 2025, with around 95,000 students appearing across the state. The exams began on March 4, except in the remote districts of Lahaul-Spiti and Pangi.
This year marked a shift in examination and evaluation methods. For the first time, HPBOSE implemented OMR (optical mark recognition) sheets in board exams.
Additionally, stepwise marking was introduced to make the evaluation process more transparent and fair, ensuring students are rewarded for partial knowledge and correct steps even if the final answer is incorrect.
In line with the digital push, HPBOSE will make students’ certificates available on DigiLocker, a government platform for secure digital document storage. Students can access and download their Class 10 result certificates from the platform without visiting any physical office.
