Calls Chamba Thaal a symbol of the district’s rich cultural heritage

Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Bharmour in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, Dr Janak Raj, held an informal interaction on Monday (November 3, 2025) with women artisans undergoing Chamba Thaal handicraft training under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM).
During his visit, Dr Janak Raj lauded the efforts of the women’s self-help groups engaged in preserving and promoting traditional handicrafts. He said that the Chamba Thaal, known for its intricate design and craftsmanship, represents the rich cultural legacy of the Chamba district and reflects the artistry passed down through generations.
“The Chamba Thaal is not just an art form, but a living expression of our history and heritage,” he said, encouraging the women artisans to continue refining their skills and carry forward this local tradition with pride.
