In a major push to boost tourism and generate local employment, Gobind Sagar Lake in the picturesque Kutlehar constituency is all set to emerge as Himachal Pradesh’s newest adventure tourism hub.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the initiative aims to transform the region into a vibrant tourist destination comparable with the best-known adventure and beach tourism sites of South India and Uttarakhand.

Speaking on the development, Una Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said, “This initiative is a direct outcome of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s vision to diversify Himachal’s tourism potential beyond the traditional hill circuits. The officials of Una district have enthusiastically taken this forward, with a goal to develop Gobind Sagar Lake on par with the finest tourism destinations of South India — known for their beaches — and also with the adventure hubs of Tehri and Pauri in Uttarakhand.”

Adventure and serenity in one destination

To make the destination truly world-class, the administration has introduced a series of water adventure activities such as jet ski rides, speed boat rides, banana rides, bumper rides, dragon rides and ATV rides. These attractions are already drawing significant public interest and are expected to boost tourist footfall during the upcoming winter and summer seasons.

According to DC Lal, this is just the beginning. “In the coming months, we will be introducing paragliding, hot air ballooning, parasailing, zipline, paramotoring, kayaking and water jetovator rides to further expand the adventure experience. Our goal is to make Gobind Sagar Lake a must-visit destination for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike.”

The project is also expected to significantly boost the local economy, creating employment opportunities for youth and encouraging entrepreneurship in hospitality, transport and local tourism-related ventures.
Officials emphasised that all activities are being developed in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner to preserve the natural beauty and ecological balance of the lake area.

“Gobind Sagar will soon be known not just for its natural grandeur but also for being a model of well-planned, responsible tourism in Himachal Pradesh,” DC Jatin Lal added with optimism.
