DHARAMSHALA: From freezing temperature of -0.7 degrees Celsius to the maximum of 23 degrees Celsius in Himachal Pradesh, Sundernagar in Mandi district witnessed the extremes of weather over the past 24 hours even as the state continues to be in the grip of an intense cold wave.
The minimum in Sundernagar was 3.6 degrees Celsius below the average temperature. Samdho in Lahaul-Spiti was the coldest in Himachal Pradesh at -6 degrees Celsius. Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded -2.2 degrees Celsius and Bhuntar (Kullu) -1.4 degrees Celsius. Mandi saw the minimum of -1.4 degrees Celsius, which was 5.4 degrees Celsius below normal. The highest temperature in the state was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius in Sundernagar, Una and Solan.
There is a forecast of change in weather due to the occurrence of a fresh western disturbance in the coming days. There are chances of rain and snowfall in several areas of eight central and high-altitude districts, including Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu and Chamba on December 22 and 23, according to the Meteorological Centre, Shimla. The weather will remain clear in the state till December 21. There is a forecast of sunny weather from December 24 onwards too.
The weather remained clear in all areas of the state including the capital Shimla on Tuesday as well as Wednesday. Due to dip in minimum temperature, the cold wave has intensified in the morning and evening in almost all parts of the state. Parts of Mandi, Kangra and Bilaspur have been witnessing fog in the morning and evening, due to which vehicular movement is being affected.
