This spell of snowfall and rain has brought hope and relief to the agricultural community. Progressive farmer Sohan Lal highlighted that the rainfall has significantly improved soil moisture, creating favorable conditions for sowing wheat crops.

He also emphasized that this weather will positively impact the yield of upcoming summer vegetables.

Echoing similar sentiments, farmer Varinder Sharma said, “The rainfall has enhanced soil fertility, promising healthier crops.

This shift in weather supports the hard work of our farming community.”
Overall, this precipitation is expected to boost crop production in the coming days. Farmers remain optimistic, hoping for a few more spells of rain to further strengthen crop conditions.

Administration issues safety advisory

In light of the continuous snowfall, the district administration has issued an advisory urging residents and tourists to avoid venturing into higher reaches unnecessarily, especially snow-bound areas. Authorities have strictly advised against trekking and unnecessary travel to mountainous regions during this period. People are encouraged to remain indoors and stay updated through official weather bulletins.

Chilly weather keeps residents indoors

With temperatures dropping, locals have taken refuge indoors, relying on fires and heaters to keep warm. Yesterday’s sunny weather took a sharp turn late last night, leading to snowfall in the Dhauladhar ranges and rainfall in the lower regions—much to the delight of farmers and orchardists.

According to the meteorological department, similar weather conditions are expected to persist over the next 24 hours.

Tourism hopes rekindled amid snowfall

The fresh snowfall has also raised hopes among hoteliers for increased tourist footfall, as snow-covered landscapes often attract nature lovers and adventure seekers. However, the administration has stressed the importance of prioritising safety over sightseeing.
