Mandi: A female tourist died after falling while paragliding at the Dobhi site in Himachal’s Kullu district on February 11 afternoon. The paragliding pilot, however, escaped unhurt.
The female tourist fell onto the roof of a house from a height, resulting in broken ribs. The deceased tourist has been identified as Navya Pahachan, 26, wife of P Sai Mohan, residing at house number 173, Shilpa B Rudravarna Colony, Jehirabad district, Sangareddy Ready, Telangana.
The Deputy Commissioner of Kullu, Torul S Ravi, has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. Meanwhile, the police registered a case of negligence against the paragliding pilot and arrested him. After conducting a postmortem on the body, it will be handed over to the relatives, police said.
Meanwhile, district tourism officer Sunayana Sharma said that the site from where the paraglider took off is an approved site for paragliding, and the paraglider is also registered with the department. The pilot flying the paraglider holds a valid license, so it will only be known after an investigation how the accident occurred. All flights from the Dobhi site have been suspended until further orders.
