Farmers, horticulturists to protest against Centre's non-compliance, plan vehicle rally in Shimla on Jan 26

SHIMLA:On January 26, farmers and horticulturists nationwide will take to the streets, expressing discontent with the central government’s failure to address their demands.

In Shimla, a vehicular rally will be organized from Narkanda to the secretariat to voice their concerns. Similar rallies are planned in Kullu and across the country, as representatives aim to exert pressure on the central government.

Sohan Thakur, the president of the Apple Producers Association, highlighted the unmet demands from the three-year-old Unified Farmers’ Front movement.

He emphasized the negative impact of the government’s unfavorable policies, including reduced subsidies and increased production costs for orchard owners.

The ongoing challenges, such as adverse weather conditions and the government’s lack of support, have compelled farmers to mobilize once again, staging protests and demanding fair policies to alleviate their hardships.
