A shocking incident of violence stemming from a family dispute has come to light, where a grandfather allegedly shot his 22-year-old grandson, leaving him critically injured.

According to initial reports, Bhaderu Ram, a resident of Rinj village, was alone at home while other family members were away for work. At around 8 PM, the otherwise quiet locality was jolted by the sound of gunfire, triggering panic among nearby residents.

The victim, identified as Umesh Kumar, sustained serious injuries in the firing. Locals rushed to the spot, overpowered the accused, and snatched the gun from him before throwing it away to prevent further harm. The injured youth was immediately taken to Nerchowk Medical College for treatment.

After initial medical care, doctors referred Umesh Kumar to AIIMS Bilaspur due to the critical nature of his condition.

Sources revealed that the firearm used in the incident was licensed and had been issued to Bhaderu Ram in 2004 for self-defense purposes.

A police team led by Superintendent of Police Vinod Kumar reached the scene and initiated an investigation. With the assistance of a forensic team, evidence was collected, and the accused has been taken into custody.

Given the seriousness of the case, police have launched a detailed probe to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the firing.
