Shimla: Former Haryana BJP leader and singer Rocky Mittal, named in a gangrape FIR in Himachal Pradesh’s Kasauli, has accused BJP leaders of plotting against him.
Mittal claimed that the allegations were part of a conspiracy to remove Mohan Lal Badoli from his position as the Haryana BJP president.
“This is a political conspiracy. All involved should undergo narco tests and the case should be investigated by the CBI,” he demanded.
Mittal clarified that he was part of a group of four, including two friends of Badoli, who visited Kasauli. “I have left the BJP, don’t know any girl involved and no such incident occurred in my presence,” he said.

Allegedly assaulted a judge over traffic issues

Mittal’s relationship with the BJP has been fraught. He started singing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaigns in 2014 but later distanced himself from senior BJP leaders, including Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Ten days before the Haryana Assembly elections, he joined the Congress, publicly apologising to Rahul Gandhi in a self-written song.
Mittal has been in controversies before. In 2015, he was booked for allegedly assaulting a judge after a heated argument over traffic issues. He was later released on bail.

CCTV footage to play crucial role in case

The gangrape case pertains to an incident in a Kasauli hotel that allegedly occurred over a year ago.
The police registered an FIR a month ago but are yet to arrest the accused. Sources said the victim was brought to the hotel for identification and employees were questioned.
Despite seizing hotel records and CCTV footage, investigators face challenges in obtaining crucial evidence due to the case’s age. Allegations of police inaction and political pressure have sparked public debates.
Mittal, however, maintained his innocence and attributes the FIR to internal BJP rivalries. “This is a plot to tarnish Badoli and drag me into the mess. I am innocent,” he asserted.
