Employer from UP arrested for raping Shimla woman at Manali hotel

Manali: A case of sexual assault has emerged from Himachal Pradesh’s popular tourist destination Manali where a young woman working at a hotel in the area has accused her employer of rape.
The victim, a resident of Shimla, has lodged a complaint at the Manali police station.


According to the police, the accused, identified as 42-year-old Paras Kumar from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, was running a private hotel in Manali on lease.


The victim alleged that on February 5, Paras Kumar raped her inside the hotel and later threatened her against reporting the crime.


Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police arrested the accused on Wednesday (March 12, 2025). He is set to be presented before the court on Thursday for remand.


Meanwhile, the victim’s statement has been recorded before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Manali under Section 183 of the BNS. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
