Deputy Chief Whip of Himachal Pradesh Government, Kewal Singh Pathania, convened a departmental review meeting at the Mini Secretariat, Bharmour, on Saturday. Officials from the National Highway Authority, Public Works Department, Electricity Board, Jal Shakti Department, and other key departments participated.

šŸŒ Focus on Bharmour National Highway

Pathania highlighted the severe damage caused by the recent natural disaster, which had completely disrupted the Pathankot–Bharmour National Highway (154-A). He praised the district administration for restoring the route in record time.

Acknowledging the geographical challenges and soil instability of the region, he directed the Executive Engineer of the National Highway to conduct soil testing in modern laboratories for the Chamba–Bharmour stretch. He emphasized that a scientifically prepared special action plan is essential to ensure the long-term safety and durability of the highway.

🚧 Local Road & Infrastructure Development

The meeting also reviewed the condition of various link roads in Bharmour subdivision. Pathania announced budgetary provisions for the construction of a 2.5 km road from Kalhaur to Tiyula under Gram Panchayat Sahli, instructing officials to complete departmental formalities promptly.

He noted that the Electricity Board had suffered heavy losses during the disaster but has now fully restored power supply.

šŸ‘ Addressing Local Concerns

Expressing concern over incidents of sheep and goat theft reported by pastoralists, Pathania directed the Animal Husbandry Department to prepare a systematic plan to curb such cases and provide security to local shepherds.

He also instructed the Jal Shakti Department to ensure clean, regular, and timely drinking water supply across the region, with routine water quality testing.

šŸ« Education & Heritage Initiatives

Pathania issued directions to the Education Department regarding the construction of a new building for Government Senior Secondary School, Koonr. He further announced a provision of ₹20 lakh for the renovation of the Mata Temple at Sungred, Koonr.

The meeting was attended by Surjeet Bharmouri, Director HRTC, Kulbir Singh Rana, Additional District Magistrate Bharmour, Namnath Singh Mane, Divisional Forest Officer, Babu Ram, SHO, Meet Sharma, Executive Engineer (National Highway), Bhal Chand, Executive Engineer (PWD), along with officials from various departments.
