CHAMBA: Tourists visiting Dalhousie will now be able to see Khajjiar ahead of Lakkarmandi and snow laden valleys on the way with the Public Works Department restoring the Dalhousie-Khajjiar road.
Atul Kumar, Executive Engineer, Public Works Department, Dalhousie, said that the Dalhousie-Khajjiar road had been restored by removing snow from it. However, currently this road has been restored only for light motor vehicles.
Recently, due to heavy snowfall in Dalhousie, this road was closed and the tourists visiting Dalhousie had to go via Chamba to reach Khajjiar. As a result, tourists had to travel a long distance, but now with the opening of this road, tourists will save time as well as fuel.
The Border Roads Organisation cleared the road by removing snow from the Dalhousie bus stand to Lakkarmandi while from Lakkarmandi to Khajjiar, the snow was removed by the Public Works Department.
